From Detox to Tolerance: The Next Step in Your Immune Reset

A few weeks back we talked about TILT — Toxicant-Induced Loss of Tolerance — and how detox is step one in getting your immune system to stop waving the white flag.

That first step clears the toxins out. The next one? Teaching your immune system what’s up. 

That’s what immune tolerance is all about — your body learning to tell the difference between what’s safe and what’s a threat. You want it to be calm around food, your own tissues, and routine stuff like pollen… but still ruthless with the bad guys — viruses, bacteria, mold, parasites, all the usual troublemakers.

If you already have autoimmunity, better tolerance is a step toward remission. And if you don’t, it’s one of the smartest ways to keep it that way. 

So where do we start?

 — the gut.

At Apollo, we always go north to south. Translation: if your stomach isn’t doing its job, nothing downstream will work right. Reflux, H. pylori, or that natural dip in stomach acid that comes with age — any of these can shut down your gut-healing progress before it even begins.

So, the next phase after detox is simple: wake up the stomach.

Enter the Apple Cider Vinegar Challenge.

One tablespoon of ACV in water before meals can help kickstart stomach acid, get digestion moving, and remind your system what it’s supposed to do.

Now, if you try this and feel a burning or “acid” sensation — that’s not the vinegar being evil. That’s your stomach waving a little red flag. It usually means you’ve got some gastritis going on or maybe even a mild ulcer. In that case, don’t power through — it’s not helpful. You need to calm and heal first.
