Summer Schedule and The Labs We Always Check (But Most Don't)

Hey!

There’s one lab marker I check on almost every patient—yet it’s rarely mentioned in standard care.

It’s called homocysteine. And if it’s too high, it can quietly wreak havoc.

So what is it?

Homocysteine is a natural byproduct your body makes when breaking down protein. In a healthy system, it gets recycled back into methionine or converted into cysteine.

But when that recycling system breaks down (often due to low B12, folate, or B6)… homocysteine builds up.

And that’s a problem.

Why elevated homocysteine matters:
- Increased risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease
- Brain fog, memory loss, and mood issues
- Poor detox capacity and systemic inflammation
- Higher likelihood of autoimmune flares
- Slower healing and recovery

The kicker? Most labs say it’s “fine” if you’re under 15.But functionally, we want to see levels between 6–8 for optimal brain and heart protection.

Just like vitamin D, being barely “in range” doesn’t mean you're thriving.

At Apollo Health, we test homocysteine routinely—because when you catch it early and fix it, you can make huge shifts in how your body functions long-term.

We’re also updating our schedule starting June 1st to better serve you—and want to make sure you’re in the loop.

🕑 New Hours (Starting June):
Monday: 12:30–3:30 PM & 4:30–7:00 PM
Tuesday: 8:00–11:00 AM & 12:30–3:30 PM
Thursday: 12:30–3:30 PM & 4:30–7:00 PM
Friday: 8:00–11:00 AM & 12:30–3:30 PM

This new schedule gives more flexibility across the week and reduces the risk of missed visits due to cancellations.
